Making pie crust is probably one of the more satisfying things you can do in the kitchen and, believe it or not, remarkably easy. So fear not! Here is a fool-proof pie crust.<\/p>\n<p>The recipe is great for entertaining as you can make the filling and dough ahead of time, assemble before your guests arrive and pull it out of the oven as they walk in. House smells great and you look like a rockstar.<\/p>\n<p>2 cups all purpose flower<\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2 stick butter<\/p>\n<p>1 tspn salt<\/p>\n<p>1 cup ice water<\/p>\n<p>Mix flour and salt, cut butter into small pieces and add to flour. With your hands incorporate the butter into flour until it looks like wet sand, add water by the tablespoon until everything incorporates into a ball. Flatten ball into a disc wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1\/2 an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Turn the oven on to 375. Meanwhile, scout out what fruit you have\u2014I love using apples, but feel free to use whatever strikes your fancy. Berries are always a great add in.<\/p>\n<p>Peel, core and slice 6 apples<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup sugar<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon flour<\/p>\n<p>1 tspn salt<\/p>\n<p>2 tspns cinnamon<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 teaspoon cloves<\/p>\n<p>splash of rum<\/p>\n<p>Mix all of the ingredients and let sit until you are ready to make your pie. Take a baking sheet and line with parchment paper. Roll out dough into a circle, place on baking sheet, put your filling in the middle & fold over dough. Brush with milk and place in 375 oven.<\/p>\n<p>*** All of this is very flexible\u2014if you feel the need for a more traditional Pie experience just take everything above and instead of cooking on a baking sheet, use a pie pan or even a cake pan. Just remember pies are fun so don\u2019t overthink any of this. Just go with what you like and play around with the fillings.
