Birthday’s are a big deal in our house. We make a huge deal about the kiddos birthdays. With a big family the kids tend to be treated like a herd- so Birthday’s are a great opportunity to give everyone some extra special attention. I always ask the birthday boy or girl what they want for their special meal and I am always amazed at how specific they are. Three year olds have strong opinions about food and what they want to eat.  Gogo loves french onion dip- nothing fancy here sour cream with onion soup mix and for the Birthday Cake I went with aRead More →

One of the many wonderful culinary pleasures of East Hampton is the amazing selection of fresh fish. I make a point of getting what is local and really you can’t go wrong. This is a fun and casual dinner – something about the family style approach and the tearing and dipping of bread that just makes the evening feel laid back. I was lucky enough have my talented friend John Jaxheimer for dinner that night with his lovely wife and he shot the feature image- if you spend any time out here then you have seen his pictures grace the side of the Jitney asRead More →

This is great for a group. The ribs are basically self saucing so all you have to do is let them rest for a bit and serve with your side of choice. I love coleslaw or a big green salad- or in the summer a traditional potato salad would really hit the spot.Read More →

I love Artichokes and this recipe is a great way to elevate them to a full blown meal.  This recipe is strictly veggies, but you could easily add some sausage or prosciutto. This is equally wonderful straight out of the oven or room temperature.Read More →

I love wings and beer and bar food. Which can be challenging living in NYC where most women live on salad and white wine. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone out to dinner and the call is to share a couple of appies instead of a proper meal. Anyway, I love wings so I like to make them. This is a great recipe it takes a couple of steps ,parts can be made ahead and it’s actually healthy- everything baked and the sauce is yogurt- so have that extra beer or two and kick back and enjoy.Read More →

I used the Pickled Watermelon rinds because I love them and make them every summer ( I am a canning dork). Anyway have fun and feel free to mix it up. Pomegranate Pork Belly 4-5 lbs pork belly skinned 1/2 cup rough chopped ginger 9 cloves garlic 1 star anise 1 tspn whole black pepper corns seeds of 1 pomegranate 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt 3 cups water 1Read More →

This is a wonderfully easy and healthy lunch. I used quail eggs since my Hubby bought me a couple of dozen (our version of flowers), but you can easily just use hen eggs. Enjoy!   1 can cannellini beans drained and rinsed 2 cloves garlic chopped handful parsley chopped olive oil salt pepper 2 chicken eggs or 6 quail eggs greens 4 oz cheddar cheese sliced thinly 1 small red onion sliced thinly 1 lemon In a frying pan over medium heat heat a couple of teaspoons of olive oil, add drained rinsed beans and garlic season with a couple of pinches of salt andRead More →
